Student visa

A study visa is issued to citizens of Slovakia, the European Union and other countries entering Russia for the purpose of studying at an educational organization or as an accompanying family member.

The stay of a foreign citizen in Russia on the basis of a work visa does not prevent him from studying in an educational organization on the territory of Russia without changing the purpose of entry.

The basis for issuing a study visa is an invitation issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation (MIA of Russia), or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (MFA of Russia) at the request of an educational organization, or a written request from an educational organization (only for short-term training, courses and internships).

A study visa is issued for a period of up to 3 months with the possibility of its subsequent extension by the territorial body of the MIA of Russia at the place of migration registration of a foreign citizen by issuing a multiple-entry visa for the period of study, but not more than 1 year for each subsequent visa.

A study visa for an accompanying family member (spouse, minor children, disabled adult children) of a foreign citizen entering Russia to study at a state educational organization is issued for the duration of the visa issued to the foreign citizen, followed by the extension of the validity of such a visa for the duration of the extension of the visa issued to the foreign citizen.
